People who are dreamers ©

26” X 33”

This piece was inspired by the DACA kids who have been fighting for a legal pathway to citizenship in this country where they grew up, but didn't have the fortune to be born in . I grouped these young men and women with Martin Luther King Jr. and a young boy day-dreaming in class in an effort to not only illuminate their struggle, but to align them with what I consider two symbols of hope and possibility.

Each Ponie O piece begins as a digital painting and then is reproduced as an archival pigment dye print. Then each character is individually hand-cut and mounted onto different layers of foam core to create a 3D effect. In this way, it is both a limited edition but also a one-of-a-kind piece.
